Catching tension early, before it becomes violence.
Peace is not the absence of disagreement — it is the presence of trusted ways to work disagreement out. In the districts where CEPI works, most violence begins as an ordinary dispute that nobody had the standing, skill or safe space to resolve.
Our peacebuilding programme puts that capacity inside the community itself. Trained peace committees sit at village level, are recognised by local government, and include the women, youth and elders who are usually left out of formal processes.
Longstanding tensions over land, identity and resources can quietly escalate when communities lack safe spaces to talk them through.
We establish community peace committees and dialogue platforms that catch tension early and give people a legitimate forum to resolve it.
